Hi there, welcome to Terms Watch! Terms Watch was built as a fun little project to keep track of terms of service, privacy policies, and other fine-print curiosities. Because we actually care about privacy, here's what's going on behind the scenes. No fluff, no dark patterns — just the basics.

1. What we collect

  • Basic visit info: Our hosting provider and Cloudflare automatically log standard stuff like your IP address and browser type. This helps keep the site running and safe.
  • Analytics: We use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics tool. It gives us simple stats like how many people visit, not who they are.
  • Accounts & sessions: If you sign up, we store your login info (hashed password, email, etc.) so you can vote, subscribe, or use the support center.
  • Emails: The site might send you transactional emails (like verification, notifications, or password resets). No marketing, no spam.

2. Third-party content

Terms Watch shows textual content from external sources, like terms of service or privacy policies, so you can read and compare them in one place. That content belongs to its original owners, we just display it here for reference.

Some of the text might include links to external websites. If you choose to follow one, you'll see a quick confirmation before leaving Terms Watch. Once you head to another site, their privacy practices apply, not ours.

3. Cookies

Only the essentials: session and authentication cookies. No trackers, no creepy ad cookies, no following you around the web.

4. How we use your data

  • To make the site work (log in, voting, notifications)
  • To fix bugs or see what broke
  • To keep bad actors out

That's it.

5. Who we share it with

  • Cloudflare (for protection and performance)
  • Plausible Analytics (for anonymous stats)
  • Email service (for sending transactional emails)

We don't sell, rent, or share your data with anyone else. Ever.

6. Security

We take reasonable steps to keep your data safe — for example, using HTTPS, hashed passwords, and limited access to stored information. Still, no system is perfect, so please use a strong password and don't reuse it elsewhere.

7. How long we keep it

As long as necessary for the site to function, or until you delete your account. If you want something gone, just ask and we'll make it happen.

8. Your rights

You can ask to see or delete your data anytime. Just reach out, and we'll take care of it without a fuss (or forms).

9. Changes

If we update this policy, we'll change the date and post it here. No sneaky edits.

If you want, you can go full meta by subscribing to this policy, which we're also tracking. Obviously.

10. Contact

If you have any questions about this policy or how the site works, you can reach out through the support center or by using the contact options on the site.

TL;DR: We collect the minimum needed to make Terms Watch work. We don't track you across the internet, and we don't sell or share your data. You're safe here.
