This End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) governs the use of SILKVR 2.0 (“Software”), developed by Guzden Varinlioglu and collaborators as part of an academic and research-oriented immersive heritage project.
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the Software, you agree to the terms of this Agreement.
1. License Grant
The Software is licensed, not sold. Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Software for personal, educational, research, and non-commercial purposes unless otherwise stated.
2. Intellectual Property
All content within the Software, including but not limited to 3D models, environments, images, sound, music, text, interfaces, and research materials, remains the intellectual property of the developers, contributors, or respective rights holders.
Users may not:
reproduce,
redistribute,
modify,
reverse engineer,
commercially exploit,
or publicly republish
any part of the Software without prior written permission.
3. Research and Interpretive Content
The Software contains digital reconstructions and interpretive representations of historical architectural heritage developed for research, educational, and cultural dissemination purposes.
Certain elements may involve:
hypothetical reconstruction,
AI-assisted generation,
artistic interpretation,
or incomplete historical evidence.
The Software should not be considered an authoritative archaeological or historical record.
4. User Conduct
Users agree not to:
use the Software unlawfully,
interfere with system functionality,
attempt unauthorized access,
or distribute harmful or malicious content.
5. VR Health and Safety
This Software may be used in virtual reality environments. Users acknowledge that VR experiences may cause:
dizziness,
discomfort,
motion sickness,
eye strain,
or disorientation.
Users should discontinue use immediately if discomfort occurs.
6. Third-Party Software and Services
The Software may incorporate third-party technologies, plugins, assets, or services, including game engines, AI systems, and platform integrations. Such components remain subject to their respective licenses and terms.
7. Disclaimer of Warranty
The Software is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, or non-infringement.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developers, contributors, affiliated institutions, and collaborators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of the Software.
9. Termination
This Agreement terminates automatically if the user breaches its terms. Upon termination, users must cease all use of the Software.
10. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by applicable laws of the United Kingdom unless otherwise required by local regulations.
